About the Logo
SHAPE AND DESIGN
Years ago, I designed the current logo for the Box Elder County Attorney's Office to make sure it reflected the legacy of our county attorney, Stephen R. Hadfield - an avid duck hunter and strong supporter of the Box Elder Migratory Bird Refuge. This symbol adorns our letterhead, apparel, and office walls. As such, with this changing of the guard, I wanted to make sure my symbol paid homage to Steve's legacy. The general style of my logo follows that same concept with the circle and inset text and even utilizes the same font.
In the County Attorney logo, there are ducks soaring out of the circle above the text. That area is left intentionally blank in my logo in honor of Steve "flying away" to the sunset and being irreplaceable.
Colors
As an alumnus of Utah State University, I used a similar dark blue color for the circle and accoutrements. As an alumnus of the University of Utah, I used a similar crimson red color for outline and font. Although I wish I had a great explanation for the light blue, I don't. It just looks cool.
3 Stars
The three stars under the text represent my family. Me dear wife Heidi is my guiding star and has been incredibly supportive and patient with me throughout my career. She has sacrificed so much to help me succeed and I could never thank her or repay her enough. The other two stars represent my two boys, who I love dearly and make me immensely proud. Together these three stars are positioned underneath the text because they keep me grounded, they are my foundation, and they are the reason for everything I do.
2 Lines by the Stars
My wonderful parents are symbolized by the lines that flank each side of the stars. My father passed away in 2017, but had a profound effect on my life. My mother, who resides in Tremonton, continues to be one of my biggest supporters and is a major influence on who I am today. Both of my parents are/were very active in the community through organizations like the Tremonton Women's Club, Lion's Club, and church service. They are great examples of giving back to the community that I hope to emulate.
14 Stars
The fourteen stars represent my fourteen years of service to Box Elder County, which I will have at the time of the 2026 general election. It also represents my fourteen colleagues at the County Attorney's Office that I am blessed to work with and, without whom, I would not be successful. Shout out to the greatest staff a guy could ever ask for.
Thins Lines Framing Text
The thin blue lines above and below the text are meant to honor the great men and women in law enforcement. I express my deepest gratitude and respect for the officers who put the lives on the line for our community every day. It is an honor and a privilege to work alongside them, which is why the lines run alongside my name and (hopefully) title.
Sword & Scale Logo
I originally designed and used this logo for my Sword & Scale Prosecution Services PLLC, which is an entity I created to provide prosecution for other municipalities in the county. I am currently the contracted prosecutor for Brigham City, Perry, Willard, Corinne, Honeyville, Deweyville, Snowville, and Fielding. I repurposed the logo to emphasize my experience in prosecution and working with local towns and leadership to solve problems. The logo itself merges a sword with a scale, the scales representing the impartial weighing of evidence and facts, while the sword signifies the power to enforce the law, cut through deceit, and deliver swift, final judgment. Together, they embody the ideal of fair, authoritative legal systems.
